What is Acupuncture?

A BRIEF SUMMARY:

Ancient Medicine

The ancient Chinese discovered the vascular system 2000 years before the Europeans. This is where blood flows away from the heart and then back to it, via the lung, where the blood (xue) is re-oxygenated with Qi (vital air). The Chinese did this through extensive research on the anatomy of the human body, making it one of, if not, the oldest and most sophisticated physical medicine on the planet.

Proper Blood Flow

Our bodies enter a diseased state when there is not proper blood flow to an affected area. Acupuncture works to dilate and increase the blood flow to specific areas of the body to relieve pain and improve organ function. Acupuncture also works to activate multiple hormones and neurotransmitters in our bodies. When this happens acupuncture can produce results such as:

reducing pain

stopping chronic migraines/ headaches

improving sleep

reducing stress

better digestion / regulate appetite

improving PMS symptoms

reducing fine lines and wrinkles

improve post stroke recovery

weight loss

faster post surgical recovery

The Needles

Every needle used in an acupuncture treatment is a single-use sterile filiform needle. They are so small that you can fit over 15 of them into a single hypodermic needle, (the kind you get a shot from).

Treatment

The average acupuncture treatment lasts 30 minutes and can extend for up to an hour. This is to allow the body to fully communicate with itself and allow for optimal self-healing.
